My name is Kelly Johnson. I am twenty-three years
old. I am currently a student at the University of Southern Mississippi in Long
Beach. I am majoring in Elementary Education, and I am beginning my Intro Block
this semester. I am getting an endorsement in English. English has always been
my favorite subject in school so that's why I chose that for my endorsement. I
was going to the USM Hattiesburg campus for several semesters. While I was
there I was majoring in Interior Design. I decided to change my major to
Elementary Education, which was what I was originally going to school for. I
did receive my minor in Interior Design, and I hope to one day go back and
continue my degree for that as well. When I graduate from USM, I will be
certified to teach in the state of Mississippi, and I hope to teach in either
Biloxi or Ocean Springs. I am open to teaching any grade level at this point,
but I think I would prefer maybe second through fourth grade. I am
somewhat familiar with certain software programs, such as AutoCAD and
Photoshop, from when I was studying interior design. I am anxious to see what I
can learn from my class, and I hope to become more skilled in my use of
technology. I know that technology is constantly changing, and as a teacher, I
have to be able to keep up with it so that I can teach proficiently. Knowing
how to use technology is essential in education, because it can be used to
enhance learning. I believe the purpose of the e-portfolio is to have a digital
portfolio that is easily accessible and update-able. I believe it will also
help me keep track of my progress through school, and one day, the work place.
